British Journal of Nursing Award Ceremony 2013

Bowel Care Nurse of the YearJune Rogers and Anna Turner attended the BJN Awards on 22 March 2013 in London, and came 2nd for their work on improving bowel management for children born with ano-rectal malformations including the development of written resources and web pages. The project was carried in conjunction with the Downs Syndrome Association, supported by The Platinum Trust. The awards were presented by Esther Rantzen and a wonderful evening was had by all.

'Look Good Feel Good' Award 2012

The 15th ‘Look Good, Feel Good’ Award      
 
The ACA Conference at the Metropole Hilton hotel in Brighton, saw the presentation of the 15th annual PromoCon /ACA ‘Look Good, Feel Good’ (LGFG) Award to TensCare Ltd for their product  the ‘Dry Night Trainer’, a single patient use enuresis alarm.
 
The aim of this joint ACA/PromoCon Award is to spotlight products, which are pleasing in appearance and satisfactory in performance, and to encourage manufacturers to give attention to the appeal factor at the design stage of new products.
 
The judging panel comprised of representatives of local clinicians, ACA, and PromoCon.
 
Only products that are exhibited at the ACA Conference have been launched since the last ACA Conference or which have not been exhibited at an ACA Conference previously are eligible for the award.
 
2012 Winner
 
 
 
‘Dry Night Trainer’ by TensCare Ltd  is an enuresis alarm that is user friendly, lightweight and as compact as a watch.
 
It can be worn on either the left or right wrist and the child’s own underwear can be used during the bedwetting training process
 
The Trainer is an advanced device that makes use of miniature electronics. The currents in the sensors measure humidity and are extremely low and therefore very safe.
 
Judges commented on the unique wrist position of the alarm and the cost effective NHS and private purchase prices

In 2nd place – Kes Vir Boy’s Wrap Shorts
 
The Wrap shorts can be used as just pull-up shorts or open them up flat and wrap them just like the opening style swim nappy.
 
The two in one swimwear have an outer shell short with inner waterproof swim nappy to contain solid bowel movement.
 
Both waist and leg cuff are extendable.
 

Suitable where standard sizes are an awkward fit.

It has a built in swim nappy liner to prevent embarrassing accidents spoiling the swimming sessions. With adjustable leg cuffs and waist line, it will contain any solid mess. Not suitable for urine or diarrhoea containment.
