Birthday Ball Press Release

RORY MAKES AN IMPRESSION!
Disability Charity celebrates 110 years
Disabled Living 1897 – 2007

To celebrate the 110th birthday of Manchester 's second oldest charity – DISABLED LIVING – a Birthday Ball was held on Thursday 29 November at the Palace Hotel, Manchester hosted by RORY BREMNER, arguably the country's most talented impressionist.

The black-tie event commenced with a champagne reception followed by a three-course dinner, after which Rory entertained in his own inimitable style, followed by a spectacular auction which made over £10,000 for the charity.

Rory Bremner said “Disabled Living is a hidden charity addressing a hidden problem. Through the free help and resources it provides, thousands of disabled people in the North West and beyond are able to cope with, or even overcome, many of the practical difficulties that make ordinary life a real struggle. Disabled Living can help give them the independence they need. It’s a lifeline!”

Marie Hendry said “As Director of Disabled Living, I am delighted that Rory Bremner has decided to support our charity in this way during our 110 th birthday year”.

Celebrity support was also given by “Cops” and “Heartbeat” star, Jack Marsden, and ex-Coronation Street star, Scott Wright.

Notes for editors

  • Disabled Living is based in Manchester and is dedicated to the needs of disabled people of all ages. It provides a range of services, products and aids throughout the North West which enable people to live independently and promotes choice and equal opportunity. The charity currently delivers around 150,000 free services each year to disabled people, their families and carers, and as a self-funding charity they have to raise nearly £500,000 annually to provide these services.
