“When my husband was paralysed with spinal tumours I was advised by carers to visit Disabled Living for help and advice. We were given the best information on wheelchair & ramp facilities. At a very difficult time when we were still coming to terms with his serious illness it was so important to have access to the experts at Disabled Living.”

Disabled Living is a leading North West disability charity that has helped to transform the lives of disabled children, adults and older people since 1897 …and we need your help.
We play a vital role in helping people make informed choices on their independent living and adaptive equipment needs. Last year we delivered over 100,000 front-line services.
Without us many disabled and older people, including the families and carers that support them, would have no where else to turn to for free impartial help and advice. In real terms the thousands of people we help every year would struggle without Disabled Living’s services and their quality of life would diminish.
As an independent charity we rely on 99% of our income from donations, grants, fundraising and legacies (a ‘Gift in your Will’) to deliver our free front-line services such as:
Free professional Occupational Therapist (OT) assessments, without referral, that could cost you £80-£100 per hour if carried out by a private OT.
Free advice on our equipment helpline (0161 839 8383) on the latest adaptive equipment and technology to meet your needs.
Free access to browse and try out over 3000 adaptive products across several showrooms at Redbank House in one the UK’s largest Disabled Living Centres.
Free access to our highly respected ‘Kidz’ events that every year provides direct help, advice and support for thousands of families and carers with disabled children (www.kidzupnorth.co.uk)
Free confidential advice and support on issues surrounding continence and bowel problems from our award winning ‘PromoCon’ team (www.promocon.co.uk)
To maintain these free services and the Disabled Living Centre costs our charity £750,000 each year. Your donation will help us to make a difference.

Why not consider Disabled Living to be your workplace’s ‘chosen charity’ for 2009/2010?
Do you know any friends or colleagues who will run a marathon on our behalf or can you host a charity auction at your next work event?
For example, Bolton based ‘Premex’ staff generously gave up their time and volunteered as Santa’s helpers for the Grotto at last year’s Kidz up North:
