Your responsibilities, what do you need to know…

There are different scenarios which could end up with someone being summoned as a witness. Whether it is a Coroner’s Court or a civil negligence case, this workshop will help you to understand what will be required and how to improve your practice so that a court appearance will be less intimidating. This workshop will provide insight into the consequences of inaccurate record keeping and how healthcare professionals could be called upon to defend their work in court.

Why should you do this training?

This training is aimed at healthcare professionals who could one day be summoned as a witness in court. With an emphasis on moving & handling, as well as skin abrasions, the workshop will advise on the key aspects of reporting and recording.

Using real life scenarios, and the support of Irwin Mitchell solicitors, we will lead you through the process and highlight areas you can improve and share good practice in.

On this interactive workshop day, you will work on a real life court case involving a patient with a pressure sore who, unfortunately, passed away. Attendees will learn about the key factors that led to the court case, the legal proceedings involved and the outcomes of the case. You will find out how to protect yourself in your reporting and recording at work, what your responsibilities are, how to be confident in your work without the fear of being taken to court and the opportunity to interact with legal experts and learn from their experiences.
