Disabled Living’s History Over 120 Years
In 2017, Disabled Living reached a milestone – 120 years of delivering services! From starting off as a small Manchester based charity (originally called the Band of Kindness), to a charity providing services across the UK and further afield.
After a major fire in 2009, Disabled Living tragically lost all of its older archived material. However, this all changed after we received a totally unexpected phone call from the son of a previous employee who had worked for Disabled Living in the 1960’s. After sorting out his late mother’s house, he discovered a number of boxes and memorabilia relating to Disabled Living. We would like to say a huge thank you to Mr Valentine for contacting Disabled Living after realising the importance of what he had discovered.
