Location: Manchester – Salford & Cheetham – primarily office based

Hours: 35 hours

Contract: Permanent

Salary: circa £65,000

About Disabled Living

Disabled Living offer vital information and support across the United Kingdom. We are proud to provide the following services

Adapt & Live offers impartial advice and information for disabled individuals, older people, and the healthcare professionals, parents, families and carers that support them. In addition, the team provides a range of assessment services including – occupational therapy, moving & handling, access audits. Adapt & Live has a portfolio of accredited training courses for health and social care professionals.

Bladder & Bowel UK aims to improve awareness and find solutions to bladder and bowel problems across the nation. The service operates a free and confidential helpline and provides education for healthcare professionals through online resources, training and symposiums.

Kidz to Adultz organise large exhibitions across the UK, dedicated to children and young adults with disabilities and additional needs, their parents, carers and the professionals who support them.

Redbank House offers training and meeting room facilities at premises just outside Manchester City Centre. Unique to the facility is the availability of moving and handling equipment for practical courses. Redbank House also has three sensory rooms for people with disabilities or additional needs.

Hilight Solutions CIC recently launched to develop the Hilight remote assessment platform.

Role and Responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and transformational leader with experience at a strategic level to join our dedicated team.

The Chief Executive will:

  • Provide visionary leadership to shape both our strategic vision and operational plans, ensuring robust governance while championing diversity and inclusivity.
  • Ensure the financial sustainability of Disabled Living, through the development of existing and new income streams.
  • Develop partnerships with statutory, commercial and third sector organisations.
  • Represent Disabled Livings services as a spokesperson for media and PR.
  • Ensure compliance with Charity Commission regulations.
  • Be responsible directly to the Chairperson and in turn, to the Management Board, who will support you and the Management team through their knowledge and skills for which they were recruited as Trustees.

The Chief Executive will be expected to be fully involved in all aspects of the newly launched Hilight software system, which will be sold through Hilight Solutions CIC. This is a fledgling business and will require investment in time and resources until the business is self-sufficient.

The person will have:

  • A degree in a subject that will support the development of Disabled Living’s services.
  • Experience working as a CEO or Senior Manager with strategic, budgetary and leadership responsibilities.
  • A genuine passion for mission/vision.
  • A proven track record of successful business development.
  • Demonstratable experience in governance and compliance.
  • Experience of building a culture that promotes continuous learning, inclusion, collaboration and accountability.
  • Demonstratable experience as a values-led, resilient and people-centred leader.
  • Strong financial acumen.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • An understanding of the challenges affecting the voluntary sector.
  • Commitment to continuing professional development.
